Q. What is an SRO ?

A. An SRO is a School Resource Officer, a law enforcement officer who's assignment requires him/her to act a a liasion between the police department and the school. Some SRO's are assigned to a particular school on a full time basis, others are assigned to many schools in their community.

Q. What role does an SRO play within the school ?

A. The SRO plays the roll of a teacher, counselor, and law enforcement officer. This is called the "Triad Concept." Many people think that a police officer is in the school to enforce rules, most of the time this is not the case. The officer plays a vital part on the schools administrative team and takes more of a proactive approach to policing.
