Q. What is an SRO ?
A. An SRO is a School Resource Officer, a law enforcement
officer who's assignment requires him/her to act a a
liasion between the police department and the school. Some SRO's are assigned
to a particular school on a full time basis, others are assigned to many schools in their community.
Q. What role does an SRO play
within the school ?
A. The SRO plays the roll of a
teacher, counselor, and law
enforcement officer. This is called the "Triad Concept." Many people think that a police officer is in the school to enforce
rules, most of the time this is not the case. The officer plays a vital part on the schools administrative team and takes
more of a proactive approach to policing.
